View from the Summit

At the beginning of my career in 1978 I felt a partnership was the only way I could get started.

 

I had limited resources and limited options. Or that is what I thought? I was 18 years old and very eager to start. Looking back I have few regrets but many words of caution...

Here are a just a few:

• Do you and your partner have similar ideals?
• Are your core values the same?
• Does integrity, honesty and character take first position?

Will you do the right thing regardless of what it cost you?

Where do you draw the line between cost and character? Is there a line? Are you for sale?

In the fast moving environment we find ourselves today business and personal decisions have to be made quickly. Often times I make choices that are best for me based on the financial implications that this situation dictates. However, is that always the determining factor?

June 21st will be mine and Robins 34th wedding anniversary and it's been an absolute adventure.

Early in our relationship I pretty much thought I had it all figured out, and just needed to be left alone to do what was best (OK maybe I still think that from time to time, haha.)

I have had some reality checks along the way...

" I can't do this on my own!"

Have you ever been in a place where you are feeling stuck? Man that's a miserable place to be.

I have owned a dozen businesses over the past 35 years and at times I have been stuck in making a decision.
