How are you making your products remarkable? How are you standing out? I'd like you to think thru what you do today. What is it that you are doing that is remarkable? Is it for a tribe? Is it for everybody? As what Seth Godin had said, "Do things that matter for people who care. And really have a tribe, have an audience."

I just want to tell you the day to be careful when you're passing judgment on anyone. You can't tell! You just have no idea! First of all, we shouldn't be treating people differently just based on what we can get out of them anyway. We should treat everyone equal. I want to encourage you today to think through your business. Think through the people that you're dealing with on a regular basis. Just start thinking about how you treat people. Are you guilty of that? I know, I know I'm guilty of it in the past and I have to work hard on not making any judgments based on their appearance or what they say or how they act. We need to be treating everybody equal in everything that we do. So I just wanted to throw out that quick reminder to you today, if you've been guilty of that, hey, don't do it! I even have to work on it. Today you see somebody all dressed up driving a fancy car and you make assumptions and we just don't know what's going on in the background.

Yesterday, we had ten couples at our house and we sat around talking about various topics related to the passage of the day. One of our conversations came up about confidence and self esteem. One of the ladies, 55 years old, sat there in tears and she said, you what?
My dad always expected me to be perfect and because of that, today my self esteem is low. Are you the same kind of parent? Would you like your children to say the same thing when they reach 55 years old? When was the last time you told your children you're proud of them? This is just one the things you can do RIGHT NOW. Watch the video and listen to more tips on how not to be the same kind of parent of that 55 year old lady.

If you're not gonna believe in yourself and you don't believe you can do it like why should I or people believe in you and why should I believe that you can do it.
But I want to encourage you today to think through what it is that you're doing professionally. Do you have that level of confidence? Start believing in yourself because if you don't believe in you it's gonna be hard to convince others to believe in you as well.

My good friend Dan Miller encouraged me 14 years ago to turn off the news. I said, "there's no way I will turn off the news! I won't appear to be an upstanding citizen-somebody who's informed!"
One night, Robin and I were watching the ten o'clock news getting ready to go to bed then she started crying. She said "I can't take this anymore! I can't watch anymore murders... I can't watch anymore car wrecks... I can't watch... you fill in the blank."
I wonder what would happen in your life if you were to turn off the news. I want to challenge you to do that just for 30 days. It's a good time to turn it off right now and see what happens. Dan challenged me to do it and I did and it's been 14 years ago my life has been better as a result of having not watch the news.
There's great blogs. There are so many areas to get news from. What if you fill your mind with positive stuff? Or if you've got a great podcast? Read a great blog? Something encouraging? What if you sit down and took that same 30 minutes and wrote a word of encouragement to somebody? Or text somebdoy? What if you did something for your children? You instructed your children on how to be maybe man of character or ladies of character?
Instead of filling your mind with the news, I want to extend the challenge. Try it for 30 days. I promise you it will make your life different. I look back now with Dan Miller's encouragement and I can't thank him enough for encouraging me to turn the news off as I did 14 years ago and I promise you I've had a lot better moments as a result of not having watched the news and I haven't missed anything!
